ART FROM THE HE"ART"
Nyah Cheang, the artist of Nocturnelle Beauty, was born in Malaysia to artistically talented parents; her father an artist and her mother a musician. Since her move to New York City in 1989, her experiences growing up have molded her into the creative talent she is today.
Along with her growing interest in design, she spent much of her time in the art studio putting together a portfolio to submit to her future colleges. Her hard work paid off when she was accepted into Cooper Union's Summer Art program. She continued to pursue art by attending The Fashion Institute of Technology in the heart of New York City. Her creativity submerged her into a world of makeup artistry, fashion design, photography and art. Her designs reflect much of who she is: artistic, elegant, and unique.
In 2003, Nyah established herself as a makeup artist after she first volunteered at MAC Cosmetics' AIDS Campaign to raise awareness to support women, men, and children living with HIV/AIDS. Since then, she has worked under the wings of the world's most renowned makeup artists to perfect her art in the makeup industry.
Nyah's work has been seen in publications such as Sports Illustrated, Miami, Hamptons, and Bride just to name a few. Her presence is at the Tents during New York Fashion week assisting in making the visions of designers a reality.
Nyah is available for travel all over the world. Places she has visited for her makeup work include Malaysia, Singapore, Greece, Italy, Prague, Bahamas, and Jamaica.
